Christmas Gift Idea–Educational Kids App

Sharing is caring!

I got the opportunity to try out this new app that is interactive with cards, courtesy of Cypher Kids.

We got these learning cards, each in a different pack:  letters, numbers, and animals.  With each set you download a free app through itunes.  Then you open the app on your ipod touch (the ones with a camera), ipad, or iphone and scan the special coded square on the back.

It will bring up a 3D and interactive picture on your device.  It’s kind of hard to explain actually so let me show you…

Pretty cool, right?  We also tried out the letters and numbers one but the animal one was my favorite.  I just really liked the graphics and how realistic the animals were.  It was kind of like going to a zoo.  It also talked about the animals and invites the kids to discover new things about the kids and interact with the animals.   With the letters and numbers they teach you about the letters and numbers and does little activities to reinforce the letter or number.

Look how cute that little shark is!

One thing that’s cool about them is that since it doesn’t block out the background it really helps you to feel like there it is! It seems like one step away from pop up 3D–like holograms.  So yes, my daughter isn’t actually part of the game here.  (She’s not ACTUALLY under the sea.)  It’s called augmented reality.

This is a pretty fun game to play with your kids and it’s very educational which is a big thumbs up for our family.  My boys eat up educational games, they really love to learn!

These games can be purchased at select Target stores.  Please check out Cypher kids on Facebook and follow them on Twitter!
