A Hole in the Ground

Sharing is caring!

It has been forever since I’ve written about my house!  And yet it’s all I can think about.  There are several factors contributing to the delay of our house, but last week I got the call:  The permit was back and they were going to start digging the house!

The neighborhood has gone up so fast, it is insane.  Just a couple months ago there was nothing but a dirt road.  Now there are literally 17 houses up and framed and a nearly complete road and sidewalk system in place.  They also landscaped a detention pond which is right next to the model home (which is near our house.)  And everyday there are dozens of cars driving up there–between the construction workers and all the excited soon-to-be homeowners…it’s a lot more traffic than you might expect.  There was even a police officer up there yesterday taking statements from a fender bender.  Ha!

But what about my house?  They dug the foundation on Monday.  Yay!!  I can’t tell you how excited I was for this because of what it means.  It means that in 100 days from Monday, I will be moving into my first house.  I will be a homeowner.  I will be queen of my kingdom.  I can make any change I want to my house without anyone’s approval.  I will have a separate space for all my craft stuff AND my tools and plenty of room for constructing things and doing projects.

At the end of the day it was JUST a hole in the ground, and I still have 100 more days of checking the progress.  But inside of me, I just wanted to celebrate!  Next up they will be pouring the footings and foundation–I hope that will be this week!

  2. Congratulations! I understand what you mean! We just moved into our first home a little over 2.5 years ago and we were there everyday watching it going up so fast!
I love being able to paint the rooms the colors I want, put bead on the wall, take the doors off the hinges and when I come home at night, it is Mine!
    Enjoy!
