I LOVE vinyl!  And I especially love the huge wall stickers.  I want to share with you all a brand new Etsy shop that sells these very things, that are unique and just…amazing!  Tara, from A Mustard Seed Dream, gave me a glimpse into her life and business…

HBL:  How did you get started with your craft?

MSD:  My mom taught me when I was little to be crafty, when I found out about the stickers it just fit with all the possibilities they have to offer.

Chalkboard Map of America: Made from Chalkboard Vinyl!

HBL:  What do you love about your craft?

MSD: That if you get tired of it you can take it down and change it. It doesn’t have to stay forever.

HBL:  Describe yourself in one word and explain

MSD:  Grungy. That was my nickname that my dad gave me after I fell off my horse in a big frozen mud hole one fall day. Since he passed away that name is really special and reminds me of him.

Tree with Leaves

HBL:  What is a typical day of work for you

MSD:  No day is typical. Whether it is doing the stickers or working with the Juvenile Probation. Nothing is ever the same. Change is good for me and keeps me thinking.

HBL:  What would be your dream for your shop?

MSD:  To have my own lil craft store in our own lil town.

Sports Silhouette

HBL:  What do you do with your time off?

MSD:  Ride my Horse. I love it!!

HBL:  Describe your family…married, kids?

MSD:  I married my Middle School and High School Crush, we dated all through High School and eventually ended up married. We both grew up in a small town with small town values and we still live by those today. We have one sweet little girl who is the center of our lives. I wouldn’t change a thing!

Love Letter Sticker

HBL:  What is the most important thing in the world?

MSD:  My family is the most important thing ever to me. Even though we are not perfect and sometimes we don’t see through the same eyes or have the same ideas. I love each and everyone of them!

The Picture Board Giveaway

***GIVEAWAY CLOSED***

I am so privileged to know so many people who are so creative and talented…and I meet more of these talented folk every day!  Today’s spotlight, Holly from The Picture Board is actually a friend of mine who is so cute, and her product is adorable!

Introducing…

These are so cute!  I would love one to give to grandparents…(and keep one for myself!)

HBL:  What is your favorite thing about your craft/product?

TPB:  I like that it’s unique, affordable, and easy to use. It’s the kind of thing I would buy if I saw it online or at a store.

HBL:  Describe a typical day for you.

TPB:  I spend up to a few hours a day collecting our online orders & passing them on to my husband to build, boxing up & shipping orders, responding to emails, and finding new places to advertise. Most of my day, however, is spent chasing around my two-year-old son! (business work usually just gets done while he’s napping or sleeping at night)

HBL:  How do you balance all your responsibilities and work?

TPB:  I put family first and fit everything else in wherever I can. :) My husband is a huge support, however, and he’s always there to help me when I get stressed out!

HBL:  Tell me a little about your family…husband, kids?

TPB:  I have a fabulous husband who is a general contractor, currently running his own construction business. We’ve been married for five years, and we have an adorable little 2 year-old boy, with another one on the way, due in March. I am blessed to be able to be a stay-at-home-mom, and I love it!

HBL:  What would you do if you had a day off?

TPB:  A day off from all responsibilities?! I would want to spend it with my husband–shopping, eating out, and seeing a movie, or something along those lines.

HBL:  What are your hopes for the future?

TPB:  My hope is that someday we can grow The Picture Board to be big enough to outsource the building & shipping of the boards, or sell the whole company for lots of money. :)

The Picture Board would like to offer you wonderful readers
a $25 gift certificate to anything in their store!

And just because they’re so great, they also want to offer everyone 15% off your entire order!  These would make amazing Christmas presents, so you do not want to miss this sale!  Just type in “Honeybear Lane” in the ‘instructions to merchant’ section at checkout.
To enter:  Visit the Picture Board website and leave a comment!
2nd entry:  Tell me what you were like in Middle School! …This should be good… :)

Mama Stellato & Giveaway!

*********GIVEAWAY CLOSED************

This is Rachel.  She designs all-original patterns for children and babies…that takes talent, my friends.  And a couple of months ago, she opened her brand-new Etsy shop….

“I started my Etsy shop just a few months ago. I’m really excited with the response I’ve had so far! I started crafting my own patterns after my daughter was born and I’d see all these adorable outfits at the mall with pretty hefty price tags. I went home and started plotting how I was going to recreate them! All of my patterns are drawn on the computer so even though they are handmade, they don’t look it!

The Charlotte Dress

I started sewing when I was young. My aunt showed me the basics on a rag quilt way back when and I’ve taken a few quilting classes since then. I find I enjoy making childrens clothes best and get the most use out of them.

I used to work in a cardiology office as a Medical Assistant but am now staying home with my daughter and so loving it! I do go a little stir crazy at times so I keep busy sewing and dreaming up new patterns. In my blog I write about things I’ve made, upcoming patterns, life & motherhood and anything that inspires me! I love the feedback from fellow bloggers. My husband doesn’t get very excited about a grocery bag dispenser if you can imagine.

The Gracie Dress

Other than sewing…in my spare time I like to cook and try new recipes (I post them on my blog if they’re any good!). My husband and I like to take the motorcycle out as much as we can, even if it’s just to get a coffee at Starbucks! We are active in the church and with my husbands music and outreach ministries.

I love making all things baby. Baby blankets, dresses, burp cloths.. Luckily, it seems like everyone I know is now pregnant or just had a baby so everything finds a home!”

Rachel would like to offer one of you your choice of two of her fabulous original patterns!

I know it’s a bit early, but…

…I am already pining for Halloween.  It’s my second-most favorite holiday (next to Christmas of course!) I love fall in general and my heart breaks a little every time I realize that I have to spend every day feeling the heat instead of breathing the crisp, cool air.  And that I have to close my eyes and exhale slowly to visualize the beautiful mountains with all the fall colors.  And the apple orchards exploding with ripe fruit, just begging to be pied.  WAHHH!

So I do what I can.  And that includes decorating my baby.

The Tell-Tale Heart
Spooky Tree

These will be in my shop September 1st!

Sweet Tea Shoppe & Giveaway!

*********GIVEAWAY CLOSED*********

Nicole, from SweetTeaShoppe, is a fabulous jewelry maker.  These stamped pieces are SO HOT right now and every time I see one I want it!  Gimme, gimme, gimme!  Anyway, here’s a little more about her…

How did you get started?
Two things took place in tandem last fall: our family began pursuing an international adoption, and I launched a line of handstamped jewelry at sweetTea.

The Hubby and I had long spoken of someday adopting a child in need of a family, and late 2009 we arrived at the agreement that ‘someday’ was now. The cost of documents, legal fees, travel, and so forth was staggering, so i chose to get serious about my etsy shop.

Through sweetTea, I get to hammer and burnish to my heart’s content, my customers receive silvery pieces of custom goodness in the mail, and this bit of added income helps cover our adoption expenses. A fantastic set-up the whole way around.

How did you learn your craft?
Four words: trial and error and error and error.

Stamping metal is a tricky thing. At the beginning my hammer and I were rarely on speaking terms, but with bunches of steady practice and a healthy dose of vexed muttering, I got the hang of it.

What is your favorite thing about your craft?
Pretty much I love the whole process: the dreaming up new designs; the feel of silver, cold and smooth; the quiet patter of steel shot in a drum; the wire wrapping and packaging.

It completely brightens my life when a customer drops me a note to say how much his or her sister or best friend or spouse adored their custom gift.  But mostly? I’ve met brilliant people through this shop. Nothing tops the fresh joy of customers and fellow artisans who turn into friends.

Do you have any favorite items you make?
I’m crazy in love with the ‘expecting’ necklaces; the curved shape of the sterling teardrops makes me think of a belly cradling all this hope. Also? I’m near-giddy about the hammered silver wings of the ‘DREAM BIG’ pieces.

What do you do during your free time?
I relish well-crafted novels (I’m partial to Tolkien and Elizabeth Kostova). I stitch up little-people things and sometimes bake and love playing backyard soccer with my brood till the mosquitoes swarm. I kiss my kids for the sheer pleasure of watching them wipe it off. I’m a fair-weather runner and sometimes-blogger (http://60piggies.blogspot.com).

Nicole also wants to offer one of you lucky readers your choice of the following two items from her shop!

Single Ring Necklace
OR
Double Ring Mom Necklace

I love these!  I want to enter so I can win! Oh…wait…
To enter?  Visit her shop and leave a comment saying which item is your favorite
And for a second entry…leave a comment saying you follow my blog!  Make sure to leave your email address as well.
