Lava Soap Review

Screen Shot 2015-03-16 at 10.38.24 PM

I love painting and staining.  Well, let me rephrase that--if someone were to clean up after me, I would love painting and staining.  It's possibly the messiest crafting you can do.  And paint and stain sometimes can be near to impossible to clean up after.  So when the makers of Lava Soap (also the makers of WD-40) told me they wanted me to try Lava Soap, I was curious.  Curious that there could possibly be something as simple as a bar of soap … [Read more...]

Chalkboard Coasters

chalkboard numbered coasters

Want a quick and easy project that also makes a great gift?  Chalkboard coasters. I got these wood sliced coasters at World Market awhile back (but you could easily find yourself a log and saw it up)  and grabbed some of my DecoArt chalkboard paint. I just squeezed some of the paint onto the coaster and painted it up to the bark border.  I let it dry for a couple hours. After it was dry, I rubbed some chalk across it to … [Read more...]

Heart String Art

love heart string art

I didn't even mean to call it 'heart string art' but there it is.  That's what it is.  Ha! I was challenged by Valspar and Porch.com to use the Pantone color of the year Marsala in a Valentine's Day project along with one other mystery item, which turned out to be a chevron stencil.  As it happens, I also was planning a project in which I would make a heart to go along with my rustic 'love letters' that I repurposed from my sisters wedding … [Read more...]

LOVE Marquee Letters

This post originally appeared on SNAP! Conference blog. I'm not gonna lie, 2014 was one of my most challenging years.  We built a new house, my husband got a new, incredibly busy position at work, his mother passed away as well as my grandpa.  But summing it up like that doesn't really touch how stressful all these things were for me.  It was crazy! It was also a great year for me career wise.  It was one of the first times when I just kept … [Read more...]

Chalky Finish Paint Organizer

Paint organization

So first I had to make the Chalky Finish organizer.  I wanted to do it out of materials I could easily purchase so if anyone else wanted to make them they … [Read more...]

Rustic Stocking Holders & Giveaway

rustic stocking holder

You know me and rustic--we were made for each other.  I think I could have survived during early pioneer days.  I have all those homemaker skills down pretty well.  I really was channeling early settlers when I made these rustic stocking holders. They were pretty easy and I really love how they turned out.  It totally seems like something they would have made and had in their house.  Although maybe they just pounded some nails into the … [Read more...]
