You Know You’re a Mommy When…

…You have perfected the art of breathing through your mouth when procrastinating diaper changes.

…You think a lunch of sliced up hot dogs and ketchup looks good.

…Taking a shower before noon means it’s a good day.

…You hide all your treats for after your kids go to bed.

…When you have to use the bathroom, you find yourself saying, “I need to go tinkle now.”

…A clean house means no visible dirty diapers and fewer than 10 toys on the floor.

…You do a quick wipe of the leftovers on your baby’s tray before feeding him another meal.

…Getting “all dressed up” means actually doing your hair.

…You let your kids into your bed in the morning so you can sleep a little longer.

…Your closest friends are people whose kids your kids play with.

…A t-shirt and diaper is acceptable summer wear for your kids.

…You tell your thumb-sucker that his thumb will fall off if he keeps sucking it.

…You’re so sleep deprived that putting your cell phone in a cup of water makes perfect sense.

…The theme song from The Cat in the Hat is stuck in your head all day long.

…You’re willing to sit in extremely awkward positions so your babies will keep cuddling with you.

(And yes, these are all based on my own experiences)

Haha! This was awesome! It was like I was reading a list about my life. Except I don't let my kids into bed with me because then they just jump all over me. I just wait until they cry to get them up sometimes so I can sleep another 15 minutes! 🙂 Perfect list!

  2. I especially identify with the last one…my son only cuddles on HIS terms, so whenever he initiates it, i let him cuddle as long as he wants. even if i have to pee. :o)

  4. I am not a mom yet..but I have been a nanny for 2 years! I've been with the same family since the littlest one was 11 months old..now she is turning 3 and the older one is almost 5!! I can relate with so many of these things 🙂 Great list. Cannot wait to be a mom someday..maybe someday soon, hehe!

  5. ….and when your roots are 2" long and you haven't had a pedicure since the last time you were 38 weeks pregnant and couldn't see you feet.

Way to hit it on the nose!

  8. I think I drive my husband nuts when he wakes up to 2 extra bodies in our bed, and I totally hide the treats until bed or nap time!

I love this! It is so good to know that I'm not the only one. I told my husband just yesterday that while I was getting my 1 year old son his dinner, he filled up on the left over lunch macaroni still on his high chair… he looked a little grossed out! haha

Haha, love your list. I just barely started letting my daughter watch Cat in the Hat and that song is constantly in my head! She just watched some today and right before I read your blog, I was singing it. Lol. Sorry about your cell phone! 🙂

  11. Hahaha, I identify with every.single.one of these (minus the cell phone – we live in the middle of nowhere, so mine is generally dead). Thanks for the laugh!

  12. I totally agree with each and every one. By the way, your little ones are adorable!

  16. So I'm super late in reading & commenting on this, but I had to comment because I laughed out loud! These are all SO true! Especially the Cat in the Hat theme song…Curt & I try to get it stuck in each other's heads by just saying "go, go, go" 🙂
