WIW: Low Weight Watchers Points Foods

Sharing is caring!

So despite having the flu last week, I managed to stick to Weight Watchers every day.  I even had Cafe Rio on Friday night which I think ate most of my flex points but I’ve been good about staying within my 26 points every other day.

Starting Weight:  157

Current Weight:  151

Total Weight Loss:  6 pounds

Now considering that I’ve been “trying” to lose weight for three months, this is not impressive.  But that starting weight of 157 was me two weeks ago.  I could NOT lose any weight while breastfeeding (I guess I’m one of those lucky ones.)  So six pounds in two weeks is awesome!  I’m so excited.

I’ve become one of those people who says “It’s only x points!” which is totally meaningless to everyone but WW people.  But now that I’ve been doing WW for a couple of months, I am slowly finding the things I can eat that are really small amounts of points, and every time I discover another one I get really excited.  Wanna know some?

Breakfast:

1 fried egg

1 egg white

1 green smoothie

3 slices of center cut bacon.

Sound like a big old breakfast right?  It’s only 4 points!

Lunch:

a 98% fat free hot dog

a light and fit 50 calorie yogurt

a banana or apple

one Fiber One brownie.

Only another 4 points!

Dinner:

I usually just make what I want and eat a smaller portion than I normally would.  {And for dessert I treat myself to a skinny cow ice cream cone, which is 4 points by itself but worth it.}

I’ve basically stopped snacking and am only eating three meals a day.  Those snacks start to add up!  And if I need something, I’ll go for a piece of fruit.  But occasionally I’ll eat these…

Snacks

Light popcorn: 3 points

Jello:  0 points

Simply Fruit Roll up:  1 point

Fiber One brownie:  2 points

So these low points foods are NOT the best tasting food.  But I think that it’s pretty much impossible to eat good food and lose weight.  Unless you consider good food to be fruit and vegetables (which I do within moderation.)  But my favorite yogurt, Chobani Pineapple Greek Yogurt, is 4 points by itself.

Weight loss is all about self control.  You have to make sacrifices.  Believe me, if I didn’t have to worry about my health, I would seriously eat chocolate cake every night.  And lots of Italian food.  And Chinese.  But I do, so I have to re-train my body to get used to eating a lot less food and to want more healthy things.  So far, so good.

How’s your progress?

  1. Great job with the 7 pounds!! When I did WW, I had frozen grapes and blueberries as a snack. 0 Points, super good and it makes you feel like you are really getting a treat.

  2. I have been on WW for the last 3 months. I discovered SkinnyTaste.Com she has some of the best and easiest recipes I have found. And she has all the points already counted so it take out that extra step for me. Good Job with the weight loss. Snacking is my downfall. I found that if I drink a few glasses of water with lemon throughout the day it curbs that craving and I can hold out for a few more hours. Good luck.

Thanks–I will definitely check it out!

  3. I have got to 100% disagree with the statement about it not being possible to eating good foods and lose weight~- 🙂 I ate what I fed my family while doing WW. And we found so many ways to eat our same meals but cut back on the amount of sugar/butter.etc that we didn’t even notice missing in the taste, but it was evident in the points plus values. And there are so many sweet treat options for MINIMAL points plus values. Angel food cake–the real deal– 3/4 of a big slice is only 2 pp. Add some fresh strawberries and 2 TBSP fat free cool whip (which I personally prefer over heavy cream, ICK!) and it’s a DELICIOUS, FILLING low point snack or dessert.

I didn’t buy a lot of the diet stuff or special foods when I was losing weight because I wanted to learn NOW how to eat healthy (AND YET, have it be YUMMY!) forever. You’ll find what works for you–but low point food can DEFINITELY be delicious! 🙂

Great job on your weight loss! YOu’re coming along!! YAY!

  4. Want to watch the weight melt off, become incredibly healthy and feel better than you ever have? Look into the Paleo Diet (or caveman diet). Amazing results, and I’ve had 2 babies and can’t seem to lose the weight. I lost 6 lbs. in a week. No kidding. My father, at 70, lost 3″ off of his waist in 2 weeks. Not to poo-poo your progress, which is fantastic, but to give you another option. No need to count anything, eat as much as you want whenever you want, and the weight literally, literally, melts off.

    Good luck, and congrats!

  5. I hate losing weight. I mean, I love losing the weight but I am not such a fan of the food restrictions…BUT you do feel SO much better physically and mentally when you keep your eating under control so WAY TO GO! If you find some way to work out that you really enjoy that makes things a lot easier as well 🙂

  6. How did you fry your egg? Also, can we have the recipe for the green smoothie and the brand of your center cut bacon? So proud of you! Keep up the good work!

  7. Good on you for those 6 pounds! That’s a sustainable rate. I lost 30 lbs last year and have kept it off almost 10 months…unfortunately I was trying to lose 50 lbs 🙂
I didn’t go with the “fake” or “lite” foods, though, because I really prefer to eat more nutritious food that has less corporate influence. One of my favorites (3 points): cook brown rice with 1 tsp chicken broth powder per each cup of water. Eat 1/2 cup hot brown rice mixed with one diced apple. The hot/cold, crunchy/smooth, sweet/salty combinations are wonderful. I also really enjoyed a fried egg (2 points) on top of a big salad and if you use balsamic vinegar alone as a dressing it’s a big bowl for 2 points.

  8. I just wanted to say the “sexy beast” picture made me laugh out loud! And congrats on your weight loss so far!

Thanks Lorinda! WW has been great so far, I think it really works but you have to be vigilant with it. I hope I can keep finding more yummy low points foods. Good luck!
