Call For HBL Contributors!

Sharing is caring!

Wow–what a weekend.  A little over a week ago, my grandmother passed away at age 92.  It was hard to really let her go, but we all were relieved for her.  She had dementia for the last several years and her last months were spent on hospice care, pretty unresponsive lying in bed.  She was ready.  My grandfather is so heartbroken and my own heart aches for him.  The funeral was completely beautiful and a day I will never forget.

As I listened to the talks given at the funeral, I thought about how good a job my Grandma did at keeping her priorities in line.  She always her family and her church service first.  She was an expert homemaker and was able to teach her children everything she did or cared about.  I realized that I want to be a lot more like that than I have been.  I could never give up my blog and business completely (despite being tempted at times!) because of all the hard work I’ve put into it.  And a mom really needs to have something that’s HERS, that makes her feel fulfilled as a woman.  I guess you could call it my hobby.  🙂

However this little hobby of mine has been taking up more time than I have and I feel like no matter how hard I work, I keep coming up short.  And I know this blog has been struggling to stay afloat with craft and sewing ideas.  The fact is that I just need help!

So I have a question for you.

I’m putting out a call for about 8 contributors to write an ORIGINAL post/tutorial for Honeybear Lane once every two months.  In exchange, I will promote your blog and projects on this blog, Facebook page, Twitter, and Pinterest.  You will be able to have your 125×125 blog button on my sidebar.  And finally, you will have a short bio on a special Contributors page!

Honeybear Lane averages 90,000 pageviews a month with over 5000 subscribers and about 2,200 Facebook fans.  I would love to have you join my team and share your creativity with everyone!  I’m looking for bloggers in these areas:  sewing, quilting, home DIY, printables, crafting, kids crafts, baby projects, and recipes.  To apply, fill out the form below!

  2. I’m so sorry about your Grandmother. She sounds like she was a wonderful woman and a blessing to you and your family. WE learn so much from our elders and they’re so underappreciated in our society sometimes. Thanks for sharing a bit about her.

I wish she could have known my kids as well, but it was her time to go. She will be missed but I’m sure she is much happier now. Thanks for your sympathies!

  5. Glad to hear that your grandmother’s death is, in some ways, sweet. It’s the best way to lose someone, because losing people is just sad.

And, good on you for taking on extra writers in order to keep your priorities straight. Your blog is well placed to do this without having to pay people.

  6. Our deepest sympathies are with you, Heidi. We recently lost our grandmother to dementia as well and it was definitely bittersweet. Hang in there 🙂

PS we tweeted your search for contributors! You’re an amazing blogger- don’t know how all you non-partner blogs do it! We would be in trouble with no help. Fingers crossed you find some good fits! XOXO

Oh Kris and Kel, I didn’t know! So sorry. Although you know how it is–seems like it’s for the best. My heart aches for my Grandpa though, he was SO heartbroken. He says he still talks to her sometimes. Thanks for the tweet, btw!
