Nautical Baby Shower

Sharing is caring!

My dear friend had a baby boy a few weeks ago so we threw together a cute little baby shower for her.  I thought it turned out really cute and I wanted to share some pictures with you!

My friend’s neighbor made the cake based on a design I found on Pinterest. She did a great job! The backdrop is a giant Engineer print of a lighthouse. Details on that project coming soon!

Nautical was a very easy theme for me. I happen to have a lot of nautical decor! We chose it as the theme because that is how my friend is decorating her nursery. And since doing my baby shower last year, I’ve found that it is very handy to have the baby shower theme match the nursery–using decor for both!

We had a separate food table filled with homemade goodies and blue and green candies!

It really is pretty easy to make parties feel like they have a cohesive theme. Just pick one or two elements and repeat them again and again. In this case, the elements we repeated were the colors green and navy blue as well as the whole nautical/coastal feel. Anything beachy fit right in.

The bunting imitates flags that are on ships or at the beach.  The little balls were decorative that the hostess had at her house.  I picked things with rope, galvanized metal, or blown glass to bring in, such as the silver lamps and glass vases.

That little magnet board in the back was a craft project that I ordered for The Glitter Academy (an Arizona crafting night) back in March. I decided it would be a great little gift for my friend’s nursery. The giant lighthouse print was also part of her gift since she is still working on completing her nursery.

One of the funnest elements was the yummy punch served in these cute 8 oz Mason jars with the daisy lids and fun striped straws. I got the jar lids and straws at The Tomkat Studio shop (which I totally recommend by the way. Fast shipping, good prices, and a personalized note from Kim!)

The shower went off without a hitch.  Really.  It was one of the only parties that I’ve helped with where I didn’t forget a zillion things or was still setting up when guests started to arrive.  I think the key was that I started setting up several hours early and had plenty of helpers.

And the cake! The guests went crazy for it. They were all over Natalie, getting her card and asking about future cakes for their parties. She does some really fun cakes.  Plus it was so yummy. Peanut butter cake with a chocolate ganache filling.
