Colorful Crate Toy Storage

Sharing is caring!

So excited to have Amanda guest posting today from her new blog.  She used to blog at Every Creative Endeavor but has recently started a new blog with her handy husband.  Yay!

Hello Honeybear Lane readers, my name is Amanda and my husband, Spencer, and I blog over at The Contractor Chronicles. Spencer is a contractor by trade and we have fun remodeling and doing home improvements to our home – He makes it work and I make it look good and that works for us!

Currently, we have been making improvements in our son’s room and making the space better suited for little boys. We kind of have a rustic, industrial theme going on mixed with the fun of little boys. I wanted some book shelves and some toy storage but I wanted it a bit different than just shelving so when I found some pre-made plain wood crates at Jo-Ann’s I knew they would be perfect for a fun crate storage unit.

I simply bought 3 wooden crates from Jo-Ann’s and spray painted them in fun colors that match their bedding. I used Rustoleum Real Orange, Rustoleum Sun Yellow and Krylon Ivy Leaf (green). I took a sander and sanded the edges a little bit on the outside since I knew the inside edge would get beat up a little bit and because I wanted it to look more rustic.

Then we loaded them up with some toys and books and called it good! I bought the red pails at Hobby Lobby and used white vinyl and my Silhouette Cameo to cut out some labels.

I found the blue storage bin at Target and it matched the blue perfect so I picked up a couple. I love having everything in their bins and having a spot for everything and I love that it is easily accessible for my 1 year old.
