A Marbled Ornament and Other DIY Christmas Ornaments

Sharing is caring!

Welcome to the DIY Christmas Ornaments Blog Hop!  Me and a bunch of other bloggers have created our own simple Christmas ornaments to share so don’t miss all of them!

I’m excited to share this super easy but cute diy Christmas ornament.  I’ve wanted to try a project like this for a long time and now that I’ve done it, I want to marble all the things.  I mean honestly, it was so. easy.  Like you could literally make it 15 seconds.  And the best part is you don’t need any special paint other than nail polish which most people have at home.

Supplies for a Marbled DIY Christmas Ornament

  • Water
  • Solid white ornament (I used a ceramic one purchased at Hobby Lobby for about $1.50)
  • New nail polish (you could try it with old nail polish but I’ve heard it doesn’t work as well)

Instructions

Step 1:  Fill a bowl with lukewarm water

Step 2:  Pour in a small amount of nail polish and swirl it around with a skewer

Step 3:  Dip an ornament into the bowl and the nail polish will begin to cling to the ornament.  Swirl it around and around until most of the nail polish is on the ball.

Step 4:  Hang to dry.  I just let it hang from a wooden spoon elevated between two similar canisters.

Here’s a little video to help you visualize the process better.

These were fun to make because they were so easy.  My daughter helped me swirl the last one and we wished there were more!  I want to try them with other colors.  I’ve seen them done in blue, black, and gray so I wanted to try them in red.  It turned out pretty bright and almost pink.  I like them but I’m not sure if they will fit in with my Christmas decor.  They could make some really cute gifts as well.  You could just add a tag for your kids’ teachers or your neighbors.  So many possibilities!
