Caring for a Fiddle Leaf Fig

Fiddle Leaf Figs are my favorite house plants and pretty much the favorite of designers everywhere.  They are a hot commodity and it's easy to see why, they are gorgeous!  They have the most beautiful and full form, filling dead corners and spaces to bring life, color, and height to any room.  Caring for a fiddle leaf fig can be tricky for some people, so here are my tips.   My FLF started as a wee baby and in a smaller pot.  See … [Read more...]

DIY Industrial Farmhouse Desk

We recently completed a makeover on my friend's front room--turning it into a home school room.  We loved the desk in our inspiration picture, but she did an authentic butcher block desktop which cost her over $1000 and that definitely wasn't in our budget.  We decided to make a planked desktop to make the whole thing look like an industrial farmhouse desk.  I've done this many times before so I was confident it would be … [Read more...]

Fall Mantel Decor

The biggest project I completed this year, besides growing a human being inside my body and then giving birth, was my hearth and mantel. It has completely changed the look of my living room! I was so happy to be invited by Sonya of At Home With the Barkers to be part of her fall mantel tour...and check out my cute fall mantel decor! (This post contains some affiliate links, see disclosure) I have struggled a little bit with decorating … [Read more...]

How to Host a Salad Jar Party

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of The Clorox Company for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine. Recently my friend started talking about salad jars.  This isn't a new concept, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized this would be such a great thing for me to incorporate in my life.  Salad jars are when you make a salad, put all the ingredients in a jar in a specific order to ensure maximum freshness time, and then … [Read more...]

Farmhouse Entry Refresh

I'm a member of the BHG Live Better Blogger Network. All opinions are my own. It was time to change my entry way.  For the third time.  This year.  I know, I know...I'm crazy.  But sometimes it takes several tries to get a room just right the way you like it.  And now I've got myself a real farmhouse entry way! Here's how it used to look when I first moved in.  I'm not sure why this picture is so grainy. Then I changed it to look … [Read more...]

Shiplap Wall for Under $50

We recently completed a home school (or home office if you will) room in an industrial farmhouse style.  We decided to make a shiplap wall and it's seriously the easiest project.  There are a million different tutorials on this but I feel like this is a pretty surefire way to go.  This method of 'shiplap' is very cost effective and will produce a more rustic, farmhouse style planked wall. I've done it with masonite (that dark brown very … [Read more...]

Industrial Farmhouse Home School Room

My best friend from childhood recently asked me to help her with a project for her sister.  Her sister works so hard helping everyone and home schools her kids and is just so super busy.  So she wanted to makeover her front room to make it a really useable space for her kids to do their school in.  Her sister's life is pretty chaotic so we thought clearing out this room and making it pretty and functional would help her gain a little bit of peace … [Read more...]

Easy Console Table Makeover

Awhile ago, my friend and I bought some cute new pillows for her living room, step 1 in starting to decorate her house.  I always thought it would be so cute if she painted her console table navy blue.  So like a year later, we painted her console table. DecoArt has a new Chalky Finish color and I looooove it!  Navy blue is so big right now and I just love this color.  I was sad when they didn't have it but now they do and it's so rich and … [Read more...]
