Master the Mango!

mango-450x337

Mango is my favorite fruit.  I love nearly everything about it, and it's my go-to diet dessert.  I will just buy like five at the store, just for me to eat.  I love cutting them up, cutting two slices on either side of the hard center and then dicing the insides up.  I especially love the ones that aren't stringy, the ones that you don't have to floss right after eating.  Mango is also great on nearly everything; in salsa, on seafood, on chicken, … [Read more...]

Kids Halloween Party Ideas

halloween party 7

Last week I threw a Halloween party for some neighborhood kids.  (That's the life of a blogger--do everything way earlier than normal.)  It was a blast--despite a little hiccup from the weather. Early Halloween parties always work out well for me because I get a much higher attendance when I don't have to compete for other Halloween activities.  And aren't your kids already so excited for Halloween??  So get ready for some fun kids … [Read more...]

Light Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread

pumpkin chocolate chip bread

Everyone seems to have a great recipe for pumpkin chocolate chip bread.  But I wanted something that was a little healthier and I was actually pretty surprised when I couldn't find anything.  So I made up my own version of a lighter pumpkin chocolate bread.  I wouldn't necessarily call it healthy, but it's a little bit less guilt-ridden.  If you only have one slice (who eats only one slice?) it's 132 calories. And still moist and delicious. … [Read more...]

What size is a twin-size quilt?  What is a fat eighth?  What is a layer cake? What does WOF stand for? If these are questions you've had to ask or google, don't be embarrassed because I have had to as well. Quilting is full of jargon that can be confusing if you're new to quilting and to ask someone what it is would reveal just how little you know, right?  I have had so many times of looking things up when planning a new quilt or something … [Read more...]

A Hole in the Ground

It has been forever since I've written about my house!  And yet it's all I can think about.  There are several factors contributing to the delay of our house, but last week I got the call:  The permit was back and they were going to start digging the house! The neighborhood has gone up so fast, it is insane.  Just a couple months ago there was nothing but a dirt road.  Now there are literally 17 houses up and framed and a nearly complete … [Read more...]
