Disney Side Cars Party

cars party food 1

I got to host a Disney Side Cars party last month for my four-year-old and some of his friends and it was so cute and fun.  I was sent a huge box of party supplies (and for the life of me I can't find that pic) but it was chock-full of awesome stuff.  Everything Cars related and Mickey Mouse and just swag, baby. Disney Side parties are easy to host.  The kits come with invitations, decorations, games, party favors.  Everything but the … [Read more...]

Want to try a glorious and easy treat?  Time for some Shamrock cracker toffee!  I usually call this stuff 'crack' but it's starting to get a bad rap.  So now it's 'Cracker Toffee' to all y'all.  (It'll still remain Crack to my family.) This is my regular go-to for holiday related treats.  It's delicious and chocolatey and you can add any kind of festive topping to make it perfect for any holiday.  This month's edition is mint M&Ms and … [Read more...]

chalkboard numbered coasters

Want a quick and easy project that also makes a great gift?  Chalkboard coasters. I got these wood sliced coasters at World Market awhile back (but you could easily find yourself a log and saw it up)  and grabbed some of my DecoArt chalkboard paint. I just squeezed some of the paint onto the coaster and painted it up to the bark border.  I let it dry for a couple hours. After it was dry, I rubbed some chalk across it to … [Read more...]

Olive Tapas

olives from spain tapas

I was thinking the other day how fun it will be this summer in my new neighborhood.  The thing about moving into a brand new development is that everyone is eager to be friends...at least mine seems to be.  We are already bonding with our neighbors and I feel friendship with them in a way that took me years to accomplish in my other apartments.  It seems that when you live in an apartment--at least in my experience--people view you as transient … [Read more...]

DIY Doorway Trim

door way trim

I recently gave my entry a makeover.  I added some beautiful board and batten which you can find a tutorial for here.  (It's a little different in the tutorial, but it's not hard to figure out how to adjust it.)  But at the end of the board and batten is a large doorway that leads to the master suite.  We wanted this to be trimmed out, so I planned it in with the board and batten project. Here's the before--you can see how boring it … [Read more...]

Cans Get You Cooking

Tuscan Spinach and Bean Soup

I'm all about fresh food first.  However, I don't always buy things fresh because of price or convenience or if I think I won't use it before it goes bad.  I use some frozen, but I use canned as well.  And some foods I use exclusively canned.  For example--beans.  Let me tell you a story:  Once upon a time I was still learning to cook and I thought one day that I might make something with a bag of hard beans.  So I bought the bag and then they … [Read more...]
