Here’s a little clarity for some of you who were confused on this step of the Puff Quilt Tutorial:

See how each side of the puff has a little fold?  You need to make a little pucker on the top fabric when you sew the sides.  The muslin is smaller than the top fabric, so you have to make the little fold to get each side to line up.

This is the back:  No folds, no puckers.  Straight and smooth.
