2016 Metallic Ombre Numbers

Sharing is caring!

Aah!  Only one more day left of this year!  I can’t believe I’ve already lived in this house for a year and now we have another kid on the way…so many things have changed in the last year.  2015 was a pretty good year for us.  It definitely had its ups and downs but I feel so blessed in so many ways.  I don’t have any ‘word’ for 2016 yet, but I’ll have to sit down and make some good resolutions.  Do you have a word yet?

Tomorrow night is New Year’s Eve.  Party time!  Are you having a new year’s eve party?  So many fun possibilities.  I’ve invited several family members and we are going to eat and play games.  I would love to do some fun Minute to Win it games, those are a hoot.  I don’t really decorate too much for New Year’s Eve, but maybe when my friends’ kids are old enough to be left alone at night we can have a real party and go all out.  For now, I want to welcome the new year with these simple metallic ombre numbers.

Want to make your own?  This is an easy fast New Year’s project.

Supplies:

  • DecoArt Metallic Paint (I used Rich Espresso, Copper, Berry, and Champagne Gold)
  • Wood numbers at least 3/4″ thick, available at craft stores, these stand on their own
  • Drill with large bit for a dowel
  • Sponge paint brushes

To start, paint the bottom fourth of the numbers in your darkest color.  Then immediately start painting the lower middle section with your medium tone color and use your fingers to blend the two colors together while the paint is still wet.

Paint the next portion in your second lightest color and blend with the fingers again.  This might take a few coats to get good coverage if your colors are light.  Don’t forget to paint the sides the same colors as the front.

You can set up a little table by your blocks and have people write their resolutions or fill out 2015 questionnaire forms to help them reflect on the year.

Happy new year!
