Fun Winter Activities

February 14, 2015

This has been a really weird winter.  Like really warm.  It has snowed only a few times and they were all in a two week period.  And those two weeks were right after we moved so we didn’t really have time to do a whole lot of playing in the snow.  However, we’ve still had chilly days and on the whole still spend more time inside than out.  Meanwhile, some of you out east are swimming in snow.

And even though I’m not a fan of the cold or driving in the snow, I wish it had snowed a little more this winter.  So we could have had more chances to play in it or do all the winter activities we like to do, such as…

Play in the snow…this includes building snowmen, sledding, making snow angels, having a friendly snowball fight.  One of my favorite memories is on a sunny winter day several days after we’d built a small snowman.  And Will and I spent quite a while breaking down the snowman.

Go to the movies:  We love taking our kids to a family movie once in a while.  We get popcorn and candy and just eat until we want to puke and watch the movie.

Read books:  Such a great pasttime is reading with my kids and even better when the grandparents read to the kids!

Snuggle under a blanket and watch a movie…who doesn’t love this?

Bake a dessert or two…or five.  Something about the cold just makes me want to stuff my face with warm baked goods.

We also love playing games together and playing with toys–building houses out of blocks or building forts from couch cushions.  Just simple every day activities that don’t require a lot of effort.

Drink hot chocolate.  I love hot chocolate!  But since this winter has been warm, we haven’t really felt like drinking a hot drink.  So we have subbed it out for TruMoo Chocolate Marshmallow milk which actually you can drink cold OR hot.

This stuff is awesome!  And it’s not made with chemicals or high fructose corn syrup so we don’t feel like we are just eating pure sugar.  We also love the regular chocolate and strawberry versions as well.

We love this drink and I’m sure it will become one of those things my kids look back on as a fun thing from their childhood.  It’s only available until the end of February so hurry and get yours!
