Gold Dipped Bar Stools

gold painted barstool seats

Another item for my daughter's nursery...these gold dipped bar stools!!  I know that I took pictures of these in the kitchen but you can see them much better like this.  You'll see them in her room for the full reveal.  Can any of you guess the theme of her room? I, like probably many of you, have some of these old basic bar stools.  These were very popular in the 90's I think.  But I inherited these from my in-laws and actually still … [Read more...]

Silver Herringbone Painted Dresser

herringbone painted dresser

I love, love, love my boys' silver Herringbone painted dresser!  It took some patience and time, but it was soooo worth it!  Don't you love this? I've been not only decorating my baby's nursery but also my boys' room.  They have more of a nautical theme but it's pretty loose.  But everything I'm doing in there is so fun and just cute! So first off, I know what you're thinking...that's not a true Herringbone.  Well I got completely … [Read more...]

Framed Burlap Monogram

framed burlap monogram

I'm in the very slow process of decorating my daughter's room.  It's the nursery, I guess.  But she's over a year old...is it still a nursery?  Anyway, I found these cute large wood letters at a local craft store and decided to do something with it--hence this Framed Burlap Monogram.  The letter itself isn't burlap, in case you can't see that from the picture, its the matting.  Or whatever.  Anyway, I really love this whole look. One of … [Read more...]

Kids Craft: Pumpkin Snowman

pumpkin snowman

It's Amy from Amy's Craft Bucket again--hello! Many of you may find yourselves snuggling around a crackling fireplace gently nursing a warm cup of hot chocolate. Maybe your drapes are drawn open and you can see gentle white snowflakes undulating through the air until the finally join the thick blanket of snow that makes up the landscape of your winter wonderland.  That would not be the case for me. Until last week, we were still … [Read more...]

Painting the Dining Room Table: A Survivor’s Story

how to paint your dining room table

This is kind of a long story.  If you want to read it cause you love me, then feel free to settle into a good DIY tale.  If you are just stopping in for the facts, here they are below: How to Paint a Dining Room Table Prep:  Sand, degloss, sand some more.  Make sure that you do NOT have a slick surface in any way.  Dining room tables have a lot of laquer and your paint won't stick to the surface unless you rough that top up. Prime: … [Read more...]

Dining Room Reveal!

aqua and green dining room

My dining room is done! What a project it was. It's very simply decorated:  Shutters, curtains, table, and chairs.  My clock is actually in there too but I couldn't fit it in the picture, it was kinda far away. Isn't is fun? It works well for little kids. NO carpet or rug under the table. I like the look of them but it is NOT practical with kids. Life is a million times easier with a wood floor in the dining room.  The chairs for the kids … [Read more...]

How to Recover a Chair

recovered chair

Here's a beautiful story for you (grab your hankies folks--this is a tear jerker.) When I first got married and moved into my tiny little apartment in Provo, Utah we inherited this sad little chair with hideous fabric. So, being my thrifty and industrious self, I set about recovering it. I sanded and stained the wood a pretty cherry color and picked a tan microfiber cloth (because I was VERY safe in my decorating back then.) We took it with us … [Read more...]
